Mike Lynch Biography – Fall 2011:

The new CD is here!!! Mike Lynch’s anticipated CD titled Road Map, is finally here!!!
The NIAGARA MUSIC AWARDS voted Mike Lynch “NIAGARA’s COUNTRY GROUP OF THE YEAR 2009″ an honour he was also nominated for in 2010.
Mike Lynch is no stranger to hard work and has miles of road-tested performances across Canada. With 8 cross-Canada tours under his belt, Mike has appeared with Fred Eaglesmith, Skydiggers, Jason McCoy, Great Big Sea, The Good Brothers, and a host of others.
Many have described Mike as a “New Traditionalist”. He prefers to draw his major influences from the great masters of country music like Conway Twitty, Hank Williams, and good ol’ Canadian boy Stompin’ Tom Connors. Mike’s secret weapon is his deadly sense of humour, leaving audiences rolling in the aisles only to break it up with a heart-wrenching tune about lost love or world peace.
Beginning in 2008, Mike turned up the heat, performing more than 200 shows since then, including: Dauphin’s Country Fest (2009) Pembina River Nights (Edmonton 2009-10), Niagara’s Wine Festival (2008-09), Mitch Padolok’s new ‘Home Routes’ Concert Tour Series (2009), and 3 Fred Eaglesmith Picnics in New Brunswick and Ontario (2008-09).
The CD “Entertainer Tonight” earned a rave review in Country Music News, saying “Mike’s going the way of Stompin’ Tom and Fred Eaglesmith with integrity intact!!” This is a CD with songs about the real world, like the title track “Entertainer Tonight”: a tell-all song about the life of a travelling entertainer; “Love em’ and Leave Kinda Games” a modern day cheatin’ song with a heartbreaking ending, and the haunting: “Ballad of the Actress and The Singer”, which tells the story of a singer and actress trying to make ends meet on a threadbare budget. A duet with Ottawa’s Lynne Hanson, “Ballad of the Actress and The Singer” enjoyed widespread airplay on Canadian secondary stations in 2010.
• 1996: Mike released the ‘Hictown’ album, distributed through Page Music
• 2000: While being managed by Ron Kitchener, Mike recorded his second CD ‘Shindigg’, which garnered 2 charting singles in the Canadian Top 100.
• 2002: Mike released the live recording: ‘Singer-Songwriter Night’.
• 2007: Mike’s most successful record to date, ‘MJL Was Here’, was released, selling more than 1500 copies “Off the back of a truck”.
• 2009: Release of the “unplugged” acoustic CD ‘Entertainer Tonight’ .
• 2011: his sixth album will be recorded in his Niagara Region stomping grounds and produced by multiple platinum producer Brian Allen.

Mike Lynch has been writing, recording, and performing his own music for nearly 15 years, but if you ask him about that he would probably say: “Heck, I’m just getting’ started!”
